Allison Cara Tolman (born April 2nd 1984) was an American actor from the United States. The actress is most famous for her character Molly Solverson in the first season of the FX TV show Fargo. She has earned Emmy and Golden Globe nominations. Tolman was raised in the city of New York and is a mother to two older and a younger siblings. The family moved out of England into Sugar Land, Texas at the age of an infant. Before leaving for Sugar Land in Texas, she lived for five years in Oklahoma as well as West Texas. Her first acting lessons began at the age of 10 old in the Fort Bend Community Theatre. Clements High School was her high school and she completed her studies in the year 2000. Baylor University granted her a Master of Fine Arts with an emphasis on the performance of the stage. Following college, she relocated to Dallas and was among the first actors of Second Thought Theatre. Then, in Chicago Illinois she started her studies in performance with The Second City Training Center in the year 2009. Tolman began her career in 2014. She starred on the FX crime comedy Fargo's first season. The show was inspired by The 1996 Coen brothers film of similar title, Fargo starred veteran actors Billy Bob Thornton, Martin Freeman and Bob Odenkirk. Tolman was praised for her portrayal of Minnesota Police Officer Molly Solverson. Vanity Fair stated that Tolman "calmly, assuredly stole" the show. She won the Critics' Choice Television Award as Best Supporting Actress in a Film/Miniseries she was nominated as Best Actress at both the Emmy Awards & Golden Globes for her role. Tolman's role as a guest on The Mindy Project as romantic novelist Abby Berman for two episodes and was revealed the same day. In 2015, she played an supporting role in Michael Dougherty's comedy horror film Krampus. Tolman's breakthrough role in the film in the film as Fargo caused her to drop various supporting roles, such as mother roles, best friends and wives. Tolman was searching for other roles with a twist. Tolman had a role on ABC in Downward Dog (based on Animal Media Group's web-series). The series was canceled after just one season. Tolman was a part of ABC's Emergence drama that debuted on 24 September 2019 but was cancelled by ABC after one year in May of 2020. despite Tolman tweeting that the ratings were "pretty good". In addition, she was an actor on the NBC show Good Girls. She played Alma Filcott during the second year of Why Women Kill.
